SB/04

Road Racing - Steel

Terrain Road / AllRoad
Material High-End CrMo Custom Columbus Steel

The SB/04 is the flagship road-racing frame in the Stelbel range. Now in its fourth generation, it carries the initials of Stelio Belletti, whose early work with TIG welding shaped both our identity and the models that followed. SB/04 blends contemporary engineering with Italian framebuilding culture, combining handcrafted construction with selected modern solutions such as 3D-printed components and a proprietary carbon fork. It is designed for riders who seek speed, stability and a refined, connected feel on the road.

A Project Rooted in Legacy, Evolved for Racing

SB/04 continues a design path that began with Stelio Belletti and his belief that steel, when worked with expertise, offers a dynamic and precise feel even in a race environment.. This model sits at the performance end of our range, defined by its handling, its ability to respond under pressure and the confidence it provides on climbs, accelerations and technical descents.

TIG Welding at the Heart of Stelbel

TIG welding is a fundamental part of our story. It shaped the first Stelbel frames in the 1970s and remains central to how we work today. Its precision and visual purity are reflected in every joint of the SB/04, giving the frame its characteristic identity while ensuring consistent alignment and long-term structural stability.

A Fork Designed for Function and Form

The SB/04 features a carbon fork designed by us to meet high demands in steering quality, cable integration and aesthetic coherence. It allows fully hidden routing while preserving the visual harmony between fork and frame. Developing our own fork ensured that no compromises were made where performance and design mattered most.

Modern Engineering Supporting Traditional Craft

This generation incorporates 3D-printed components where they offer real benefits, while the frame structure relies on CrMo steel alloys produced specifically for Stelbel by Columbus. This combination of handcrafted construction and selected engineering updates allows the SB/04 to meet modern performance expectations while keeping the tactile identity that defines a well-built steel frame.

A Ride Characterised by Control and Confidence

Steel provides an immediate sense of connection with the road. The SB/04 translates rider input with precision, offering composed behaviour at speed and a reassuring feel through tight corners and fast descents. The frame balances responsiveness with predictability, encouraging confidence on every terrain.

Built to Endure

Each SB/04 is made by hand in our workshop near Bergamo, shaped through processes refined to favour precision and consistency. Steel is a noble material, durable and repairable, and naturally aligned with a more thoughtful approach to longevity and sustainability.
Our intention is to create an object with lasting value, capable of delivering many years of riding enjoyment.

Geometry

SB/04 is available in eight standard sizes with a racing-oriented geometry and a subtle semi-sloping design.
A fully made-to-measure version is also available and defined using the rider’s most recent bike-fit report. For optimal precision, we recommend consulting a trusted professional fitter.

Order

Ordering a Stelbel frame begins with a conversation. Each project is developed around the rider, starting from intended use, geometry and component choices. Both frame kits and complete bicycles are available, with every detail open to personalisation.

Write us at [email protected] and we will be happy to share all details regarding pricing and guide you through the ordering process.
